The very popular Maldon steam train is visited by many
thousands of people each year.
A part of Maldon's rich history, the railway reached the town in 1884,
& the substantial brick station building was constructed in 1888.
In 1976, the Maldon to Castlemaine line closed, and the Castlemaine & Maldon
Railway Preservation Society was formed. It was not until 1986 that part of the
line from Maldon was able to be reopened.

"Our dream is to re-open the line from Maldon to Castlemaine."
The dream is now a reality! The official reopening took place on 20 March 2005.
